Takeaways after three years in industry as an "IT" Operator and "Product" Engineer

It's hard to sell a book! Let the book do the work!

Some books that have helped me:

If a business is composed of different "silos":

  • "Legal"
  • "Management"
  • "Operations"
  • "Sales"
  • "Product"
  • "Marketing"

Strive to be able to communicate between silos and product lines!

Practice open communications to avoid information gaps!

Try to find a common thread between systems, especially documentation.

It's an iterative process, always start small and don't get ahead of yourself.

People aren't processes!

If a system is testable and repeatable, that's a good start.

Spend less time in the "sales" silo and more time with people.

Spend even less time in front of a computer screen!

Embrace the idea of "branding" but in a cooperative and non-intrusive way 🍌⚾️

Systems and processes should be opinionated because every business is unique, especially fiduciaries!

Physical silos are just as relevant as digital silos!

Some silos are inherently more "structured" than others! (legal, cough, cough)

Proxies are okay as long as everyone is reading the same newsletters!
